Zero Payments has appointed Justin O'Donnell as Chief Operating Officer.

Justin will lead product delivery, partnerships, operations and business performance, reporting to CEO Andrew Paynter. The appointment comes as Zero Payments scales its product suite, deepens its partner network and builds the operations to support more merchants across Australia.

Where banking, technology and hospitality meet

Justin brings more than 20 years across banking, payments, strategy and commercial leadership.

As CEO of Doshii, he grew the team from four people to around 70 in 18 months and built more than 70 strategic partnerships across hospitality, technology and banking. Working closely with venues and point-of-sale providers gave him a practical understanding of how hospitality businesses run, and what they need from the technology behind them.

Before Doshii, Justin was Interim Country Head for Klarna in Australia and New Zealand, where he led the local launch alongside banking partners and regulators.

He also spent more than a decade at Commonwealth Bank, including roles in Group Strategy and leading digital banking and lending businesses across Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Vietnam. In Singapore he held full P&L and operational responsibility for the bank's digital banking business.

What it means for merchants

For merchants, the appointment is about delivery. Justin's focus will be on getting new products to market faster, strengthening the partnerships behind them, and making sure the service merchants get from Zero Payments stays consistent as the business grows.

“Justin has built and scaled businesses where banking, technology and hospitality meet. That’s where our merchants are, and it’s the experience we need for our next stage of growth,” said Andrew Paynter, CEO of Zero Payments.

“Zero Payments has a team that’s genuinely close to its merchants. That’s rare in payments,” said Justin. “I’m looking forward to building the operations and partnerships that keep it that way as we grow.”
